Biography
Artist, actor, musician, singer, voice actor. He is 1.73 meters tall and weighs 62 kg. He was born on August 10, 1957 in Üsküdar district of Istanbul. He is the only child of his father Cevat İşanç, a barber, and his mother Süheyla İşanç, a housewife.
In addition to cinema and theater, he attracted attention with his strong voice. She has won many awards in Turkey and in various countries around the world and has gained an important place in Turkish cinema with her films such as "Finger Stamp", "The Other Side of the Night", "Days of Fire" and "The End of Blooming Lady".
He spent his Abandoned years in Üsküdar, where he was born. After completing her primary education at Halil Rüştü Primary School, she enrolled in Üsküdar Girls' High School. Coming from a family of artists, Zuhal Olcay graduated from Ankara University State Conservatory High School in 1976. She studied in London for a year.
In 1976, she married her classmate Selçuk Yöntem. After her 3-year marriage ended, the actress started acting at the Izmir State Theater and had her second marriage with Zafer Olcay. In 1981, her daughter Ceren Olcay was born. In 1987, she divorced Zafer Olcay. In 1992, she married Haluk Bilginer in a ceremony in London. Her marriage to Haluk Bilginer ended in 2004.
Zuhal Olcay starred in various television productions from 1983 onwards and appeared in front of the camera for her first television movie, Sönmüş Ocak. In 1985, the actress started to make a name for herself with the series Finger Stamp and continued to act in the theater.
In 1986, she was awarded the Avni Dilligil Theater Award for her performance in the play "Seagull" and in 1988, she won the Ankara Art Award for her performance in the play "Balcony" in which she played the character Irma. In 1989, when she played Eva Peron in the musical Evita, she attracted attention with her singing.
In 1989, her role in the film "Farewell to False Paradise" took her success beyond the borders of the country and earned her the "Best Actress Award" at the Golden Filmstrip festival in Germany. In 1990, together with actor Haluk Bilginer, she became one of the founders of the Theater Studio and played leading roles in plays such as Aldatma, Kankardeşler, Hysteria and Balkon. In 1992, Olcay starred with her husband in the Hollywood movie "indiana-jones", playing the character of Halide Edip.
Zuhal Olcay, who was also interested in politics, was offered the position of Bakırköy Mayor Candidate.
The artist released the album "İki Çift Laf" in 1993 and "Oyucu" in 1996. In 2001, she won the "Best Actress" award at the Istanbul Film Festival for her film Nowhere.
Working with important musicians such as Vedat Sakman and Bülent Ortaçgil, Zuhal Olcay released another album titled "İhanet" in 1998.
In 1990, together with Haluk Bilginer, she was one of the founders of the private theater "Tiyatro Stüdyosu" (Theater Studio), in which she played leading roles in plays such as Aldatma, Kankardeşler, Hysteria and Balkon.
In 1996, 3 years after the Theater Studio burned down, she founded Oyun Atölyesi with Haluk Bilginer in 1999. Olcay won the "Best Actress in Comedy" award at the Afife Jale Theater Awards for her role in the play "Dolu Düşün Boş Konuş" staged by Oyun Atölyesi.
In addition to acting in theater, Zuhal Olcay has starred in around 50 films and TV series since 1980. She continues to take part in new projects.
