Biography
Cüneyt Yalaz (born June 16, 1966, Rize), Turkish theater, film and TV series actor; theater playwright, director, lighting designer and instructor.
He completed his secondary education at Eskişehir Anatolian High School. After graduating from Boğaziçi University, Department of Economics, he completed his master's degree at Boğaziçi University, Institute of Atatürk's Principles and History of Turkish Revolution. His master's thesis was on "The Politicization of Turkish Theater in the 1960s".
Yalaz, who has been involved in theater since 1984, started his professional theater work with the establishment of Boğaziçi Performing Arts Group Theater Boğaziçi in 1995. He has acted, directed, playwrighted, and designed lighting in nearly thirty plays and appeared on stage approximately 750 times. In 2016, he wrote and acted in "Who's There? Muhsin Bey's Last Hamlet", which he wrote and performed in 2016, won three awards.
Yalaz, who has been the Editor-in-Chief of Mimesis Theater Magazine since 1997, has also been working as a Theater Instructor at Private Şişli Terakki High School since 1999 and as the Coordinator and Jury Member of Terakki Foundation Youth Theaters Festival since 2004. He co-wrote "A Handbook for Acting Education - Stanislavski System" with Bülent Sezgin and Özgür Çiçek, which was published in 2006.[1] Some of the plays he co-wrote were published as books. Between 2004-2009, he directed Theater Workshops in various festivals in Istanbul, Denizli, Eskişehir, Diyarbakır and Ankara.
