Biography

Born on November 22, 1969 in Istanbul, from a family of immigrants from Crete and Macedonia, she graduated from Erenköy Girls' High School in 1986. She studied at Istanbul University State Conservatory, Department of Theater and Ancient Greek Language and Literature for two years. She graduated from the theater department in June 1990.

She started her film career as a conservatory student in 1987 with the movie Gönülden Gönüle (From Heart to Heart), the screenplay of which was written by Safa Önal. In 1988, he starred in the TRT movie Haunted Mansion. In the same year, he started acting at Istanbul City Theater. He first appeared in Aristophanes' play "Birds". In 1990, he starred in the TV series Gençler and Gülen Ayva Ağlayan Pomegranate. After graduating, she went to England in the 1990-1991 season and took a course on drama at the Westminster Institute of Adult Education in London.

In 1993, she appeared in productions such as Rifle King Kong Show, in 1994 in Piranha Films and Muhteşem Zango. She won the 6th Ankara Film Festival's Promising New Actress award for her role as Muhsine in the film Ağrıya Dönüş.
In 1995, she married Bülent Emin Yarar, an actor from Istanbul State Theaters; the couple had a daughter named Ada.

She starred in the plays "Three Sisters", "Respectful Whore", "Yaprak Dökümü", "Yaprak Dökümü", "Richard III", "Herkes Aynı Bahçede", "Huzur", "Bir Atın Öyküsü", "Askerliğim", "İntiharın Genel Rehearsal", "Buluşma Yeri", "Darakkablarla Yaşamak", "12. Gece" at Istanbul City Theaters. She received the 1996 Bedia Muvahhit Award for her role in The Story of a Horse, the 1998 İsmet Küntay Best Actress Award for her performance in Huzur, and the 2006 Lions Theater Award for her role in Respectful Yosma.

In 1997, she was recognized for her role as Elif in the small series Super Dad. In 2000, she played the lead role in the film Kaç Para Kaç directed by Reha Erdem and won the Best Actress award at the 5th Sadri Alışık Theater and Cinema Actor Awards. On television, her recognition increased with her characters Fikret in the series Yaprak Dökümü (Yaprak Dökümü) based on the novel by Reşat Nuri Güntekin, Nermin in the series Umutsuz Ev Womanları (Hopeless Housewives) and Servet in the series Gönül İşleri (Gönül İşleri). At the 35th Golden Butterfly Awards, she was recognized as Best Actress.

She played the role of Sinan's mother in Nuri Bilge Ceylan's 2018 film Ahlat Agaci.
